Learn to Play Fall/Winter 2018-2019



If  the  skater is 9 or younger,  (and for 2019, that is birth years 2010 or younger)  he/she should register with the NJ Devils Youth Program to get free equipment and specify JerseyShore Arena as your rink. You may pay by credit card, debit card, debit from bank account or by check. If you pay by check, your registration is not complete and skater not permitted to start the program until your check has been received. Checks must be mailed or taken to: Jersey Shore Arena,  1215 Wyckoff Rd, Farmingdale, NJ 07727. For payment by check, when you get to the checkout screen, under the Payment Options heading, in the box that defaults to "Pay in Full", click it and change to "Pay Offline", and complete the registration so that you get a confirmation. Your registration will not be saved unless you complete it.

Learn To Play Hockey - General Information

The Jersey Shore Arena is proud to present the Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Learn To Play Hockey program. This inexpensive, group setting program is open to skaters from Preschool thru age 14. The Learn to Play Hockey Program is a progressive curriculum designed to introduce skaters to the game’s basic skills. Skaters will reinforce previously taught skating skills, learn passing the puck, puck control & shooting. Skaters learn by participating in practice drills & informal scrimmages under the direction of the Jersey Shore Arena coaching staff.

Program Objectives

-To have fun
-To build on & refine previously learned skating skills
-To learn the skills required to play the game of hockey
-To learn teamwork, cooperation & fair play

**Please note: Students must complete either Snow Plow Sam 3, Basic 1 or LTS Hockey 1 prior to enrolling in Learn To Play Hockey**

Required Equipment

The following hockey equipment is required to participate:

Hockey Skates, Helmet, Gloves, Pants, Elbow Pads, Shoulder Pads, Shin Guards, Hockey Stick & Mouth Piece

Fall/Winter Sessions

Session #1: Sept. 16, 23, 30, Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28

Session #2: Nov. 4, 11, 18, Dec. 2, 9, 16, 23

Session #3: Jan. 6, 13, 20, 27, Feb 3, 10, 24 (no session Feb 17)

Ages 9 & Under: 8:00am - 9:00am
Ages 10 thru 14: 9:00am - 10:00am

Additional Details

-Please arrive 30min prior to your class time to ensure ample preparation time

-No one is allowed on the ice in shoes

-Due to tournament or illness, classes may be conducted by a substitute coach

-Family members & friends are not allowed on the ice during class

-All NEW participants will receive a jersey
